Proceed with Caution: The Pitfalls of Buying NMN Supplements on Amazon

The market for health supplements has surged as people prioritize their well-being more than ever. One particularly sought-after supplement is the anti-aging compound Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN). The endorsement of David Sinclair, a distinguished biologist renowned for his research on aging at Harvard Medical School, has further bolstered its popularity. However, let's explore reasons why purchasing NMN supplements on Amazon might not be advisable.

Amazon is a go-to platform for many when it comes to supplement purchases, offering convenience and cost-effective options. Yet, how often do we question the purity and reliability of these products? Likely, not often enough. Unfortunately, many consumers fail to find out if a product matches the claims made by the company, leading to the proliferation of companies peddling counterfeit supplements in the market.

78% of NMN on Amazon fail to deliver the correct dosage

In order to shed light on the truth behind NMN supplements listed on Amazon, a dietary company conducted a study involving 22 NMN products available on the platform. The results, to the surprise of many consumers, were unfavorable.

Out of the 22 samples tested, only 3 contained the stated amount of NMN. Approximately 23% of the products, totaling 5 samples, had NMN content ranging from 88% to 99% of what was claimed. However, a staggering 64% of the samples (14 in total) contained less than 1% of NMN, while 3 samples, accounting for 14% of the total, had no NMN content whatsoever. This highlights that nearly 78% of NMN supplements sold on Amazon fail to deliver the correct dosage, thus offering no potential health benefits.

Another study conducted by Effepharm in collaboration with ProHealth Longevity yielded similar findings. Nearly 50% of the NMN products tested showed no NMN content, while some were only about 80% pure.

Here are reasons why buying NMN on Amazon may not be advisable:

The primary concern is the lack of assurance regarding the purity and effectiveness of the product. Studies indicate that several companies offer adulterated products, making it difficult for consumers to identify genuine ones. While third-party testing can validate product quality, it may not be accessible for all buyers.

Another drawback is the limited means of communication with sellers. Many vendors lack websites, making it challenging for customers to address any queries or concerns they may have.

Additionally, Amazon hosts fraudulent companies that present fake certificates of analysis, enticing unsuspecting customers to make purchases.

NMN Purchasing Guide: The 3 Must-Have Elements

When it comes to purchasing NMN supplements, simply relying on the label isn't enough. To ensure authenticity, consumers should explore beyond Amazon listings. Third-party lab tests provide unbiased results determining the product's sufficiency. Here are three essential factors to consider:

  • Purity: Purity is one of the primary aspects and should be considered when buying the best NMN supplement. Purity test helps indicates the percentage of the actual compound present in the formulation. Higher purity levels ensure greater effectiveness. Be wary of products with undisclosed or dubious purity levels, as they may contain unwanted fillers or impurities.

  • Third-party Testing for Heavy Metal: This examines levels of arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury, ensuring the supplement is free from harmful contaminants.

  • Microbial Test: This evaluates total plate count, yeast & mold presence, as well as the absence of harmful bacteria like S. aureus, Pseudomonas, Salmonella, and E. coli. These tests guarantee the product's safety and cleanliness.

If any of these elements are missing, it's advisable to avoid that NMN supplement.

Conclusion

Health supplements like NMN demand caution, necessitating purchase from reputable sources to safeguard one's well-being. Vigilance and thorough research are essential when navigating the market for these products.
